This project was pretty exciting as it was PIMA’s first collaboration for a commissioned project. I was given an opportunity to work with my husband, Dem. We wanted to come up with a mixed media wall mural that would have showcased both our talents. The restaurant had a Japanese Asian European fusion menu and so we focused on those elements into our creative process. The simple structured ornamental origami shapes were based on the Asanoha japanese pattern, which meant growth and good health. The free form strokes and paint drips were expressions of synthesis and unification. It unexpectedly worked really well! Inspiring us to push for mural jobs that allowed us to use both our expertise. It also made us more open into doing collaborations with not only each other but with others.
It was the beginning inklings of DivHq.
